How to Plan a Bachelorette Party in Bali – Sending Her off in Style

Planning a bachelorette party is no easy task. Friends & family members might live in different parts of the country or even continents and that might make it harder to find a convenient day or location for the Hen Do. Why not meet in Bali and get away for old times’ sake for a few days before the wedding? For this purpose, we have written down everything you need to know about doing a Hen Do, so you don’t have to worry about it too much - we’ve got you covered.

1. Planning and Hosting Traditionally, the bride-to-be’s bridesmaids plan her bachelorette party. They know what she likes and what is not down her alley, so the bride-to-be can have an unforgettable Hen Do. When it comes to timings, we advise you to leave a few days in between the Hen Do and the wedding day. 2. Who is Invited? The guest list of the bachelorette party consists typically of the bridesmaids and the bride’s closest friends and family. Everybody on that list should of course also be invited to the wedding.

3. Budget First of all the bride should not be paying for this day! Our advice is to make a group chat where you set a budget.

4. Hen Do Ideas The main thing to take into consideration is of course the bride’s personality, but don’t worry - the options in Bali are endless! There is everything you could possible think of, when it comes to activities for a Hen Do in Bali:

  • If she likes outdoor activities, we highly recommend Rip Curl School of Surf in Sanur. They offer windsurfing, stand up paddle board, canoeing and plenty more. You can also go on a snorkeling/diving trip to Nusa Penida with Blue Season Bali from Sanur as well. If the bride is an early bird, why not organise a sunrise trekking at Mount Batur to get those Instagram over-the-clouds shots ;) It is an active volcano with a spectacular view! Another option would be renting a yacht – Alexa Private Cruises – Alexa is an Indonesian luxury sailing yacht with a modern pure look with aged teak wood combined with stainless steel and tinted glass, creating a luxurious vibe. The yacht can host parties with up to 30 people and we are in no doubt that you will have a blast!

  • If she is more a spa/wellness type of girl, we have plenty of ideas on where to have your spa day.

  • Following in the footsteps of “Eat Pray Love”, in Bali, yoga is indeed popular and a hot spot. We have found 3 yoga retreats we adore: Fivelementretreats, a wellness resort with bamboo and wood architecture surrounded by rice fields, located 20 minutes’ drive from Ubud. They offer yoga, meditation, massages and many other activities to feel healthy and refreshed. Yoga Searcher Bali located in the southeast part of Bali in Uluwatu. Their eco-lodge are built in recycled wood with traditional architecture and they are only 200 meters from the beach. They offer daily yoga classes, spa treatments and serve earth friendly food. The last one is Bali Green Retreat. They are located 30 minutes’ drive west from Tabanan. Super authentic, surrounded by greenery and gives a taste of a traditional village. They have different packages all including yoga combined with either meditation, culture or trekking.

  • To spice it up we included dance classes to this list: Ubud Studio teaches Salsa, Bachata and various other dances in a fun environment. Take all the girls here for an exciting dance lesson and shake it off.

  • Book a cooking master class if she is a food lover – learn how to cook authentic Indonesian or Balinese food with experts. Get to know the local ingredients and techniques. In the end you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner together. Caraway is located in Sanur and are the first cooking school in Sanur. They make sure you can choose between vegetarian, fish or meat dishes to cook. Ketut’s Balinese cooking class is located 10 minutes from Ubud city center. They are super skilled and friendly and will teach how to cook a Balinese meal in a fun and traditional environment.

  • You prefer to celebrate the old-fashioned way? Go to Jl. Dhyana Pura in Legian. A street full of fun with gay night bar clubs, drag queen shows and strippers. We recommend Mixwell for a wild night out.

  • If she’s the sunshine & beachy type, why not take her to one of the famous and luxurious beach clubs of Bali: We recommend Café Del Mar, Mrs Sippy or El Kabron. Café Del Mar is located on the coastline nestled on the way to Canggu in Batu Belig. They offer an ultimate Mediterranean lifestyle experience. Café Del Mar is called the ultimate Ibiza experience in Bali for a reason. They have regular gigs of the world’s finest DJs and a world-class cocktail list. Mrs Sippy is located in the center of Seminyak with the largest saltwater pool on the island and a 5- and 10-meter platform where from you can jump in the pool. Mrs Sippy is a Mediterranean inspired oasis with open air-kitchen, signature cocktails and a cool and tropical vibe. El Kabron located in Uluwatu on the edge of Pecatu cliffs offering a stunning ocean view and magical sunsets. Their restaurant and hedonism lounge concept are inspired by Spanish design with fashionable loungers and sofas. Their restaurant offers a Spanish cuisine with a traditional paella and tapas concept. Enjoy their infinity pool in overlooking the Indian Ocean, drink and eat some and dance into the night.

  • For the more private function: do a venue rental – the perfect place for picnics, BBQs and chilling together away from everybody else. Book Wonderland Uluwatu for a private day with their magical and spectacular cliff top pool area with an amazing ocean view.

We hope that these suggestions have helped you in planning an unforgettable Hen Do in Bali – and remember it is all about being together, having fun and creating memories for a lifetime.
